P.E & SPORT

All of the children have P.E lessons twice a week.  These take place in the school hall or outside in the extensive grounds.

The hall is well equiped with wall bars, ropes, ladders etc.  We also have plenty of mats, springboard and small apparatus.  Outside we have football and netball pitches, and an Adventure Playground.

Children take part in a wide range of sporting activities including gymnastics, games, dance, athletics, outdoor adventurous activities and swimming.  They play a variety of games throughout the year, such as football, tag rugby, netball, rounders and kwik cricket.  We offer extra-curricula activities (like Tri-Golf) to specific year groups, where specialist coaches are able to develop the childrens skills.

Each term all children in KS1 go swimming once a week.  The other classes have one term of swimming lessons.

There are popular after school or lunchtime clubs for football, netball and rounders.

All KS2 children have the opportunity to take part in inter-school competitions.  More importantly, we encourage children to enjoy participating in sport and to feel good about trying their best.

We are very proud of our Adventure Playground, which was built some time ago by a group of parents and recently renovated.  It provides a stimulating and challenging environment for the pupils.  The playground can be used for the following purposes:

It can

    Enhance self-esteem

    Increase physical competence

    Develop mental agility

    Improve skills in group work
